PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS

ADA CITY SCHOOLS ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS



As part of the 12 hours of required professional development annually, the following  may be completed online.  Alcohol and Drug Awareness for Employees, Bloodborne Pathogens, FERPA,  Autism, Bullying,  and Child Abuse must be completed through the GCN Online System  You may access the modules by clicking on the GCN Training Portal below.

ADA CITY SCHOOLS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS


In order to comply with accreditation, it is necessary for teachers to complete the first eleven professional development hours listed below by the 15th of September, annually.  The remaining four hours of required professional development must be completed by the first day of April in the Spring Semester of the current school year.


Sign-In sheets will be provided for Multicultural Awareness, Hazardous Communications, and District "Back to School" Targeted Professional Development.  Certificates for Online Training and ALL OTHER professional development workshops MUST be filed in the designated folders at each school site.

I. DISTRICT BACK TO SCHOOL TARGETED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT


Teachers should select a total of 2 hours of professional development from workshops offered on staff development day during teacher report week.  Teachers must sign-in on the SITE sign-in sheet at each professional development session.  Presenters and Moderators may count their presentations as two hours of required professional development.


Teachers who fail to accrue two professional development hours on the staff development day during teacher report week may select two workshops from the online professional development program.  Teachers must print a certificate of completion for each workshop and must file the certificates at the designated school site.


Total Required---2 Hours

II. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ACCREDITATION


Teachers who fail to accrue the professional development hour on Multicultural Awareness during the District General Session during teacher report week may go online to complete the requirement.  Teachers must print a certificate of completion for the workshop and must file the certificate at the designated school site.


  • Multi-Cultural Awareness --- Presents at the "District General Session"
  • Child Abuse---Online
  • Alcohol and Drug Awareness---Online
  • Bloodborne Pathogens---Online
  • FERPA/Confidentiality---Online
  • Autism---Online
  • ELL---Online
  • Bullying---Online
  • Hazardous Communications---Presented at Each School Site/Scheduled by Site Principal


Teachers who fail to accrue professional development hours on Hazardous Communications at the school site may go online to complete the requirement.  Teachers must print a certificate of completion for the workshop and must file the certificate at the designated school site.


Total Required--- 9 Hours

III. ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS


Teachers must participate in at least four additional hours of professional development.  These hours may include but are not limited to:


  • Engage Oklahoma
  • Bus Driver Training
  • Concussion Protocol Training
  • AVID Summer Institute
  • The Leader In Me Training
  • Advanced Placement Training
  • OERB
  • Content Specific Workshops
  • Understanding Poverty (Ruby Payne)


The final decision as to which professional development trainings may count toward the four additional hours of required professional development rests with the site principal and/or the Staff Development Committee.  Teachers should file certificates of completion or proof of attendance in the file at the designated school site.

Total Required---4 Hours

Total District Required Professional Development Hours---15 Hours

A Compliance Report will be made to the Ada City Schools Board of Education in May at the end of each school year.
