ABOUT CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
It is the mission of the Ada City School District to prepare all students to become engaged, high-performing citizens with the skills necessary to succeed in a global society. To that end, the District is committed to developing and implementing programs that will help to ensure that students are armed with the skills necessary for post-secondary success.
As part of its new Strategic Plan, the District has established clear goals and has developed specific action steps that have been designed to meet the needs of all students. At each school site, opportunities for acceleration as well as remediation are available to students. Ada High School currently offers nine Advanced Placement courses. Pre-Advanced Placement courses are offered at Ada Junior High School in order to prepare students for Advanced Placement success. Programs such as AVID, Gear Up, and The Leader in Me are in place to assist students in reaching academic and personal potential.
As part of our STEM initiative, new DART Foundation iLabs have been developed at each elementary site. Hands-on learning activities provide the opportunity for students to acquire science, technology, engineering, and math skills and to work together to solve real-world problems. New aviation coursework is available at the secondary level and plans are in place to provide aviation programs and activities for elementary students as well.
As the school sites work to implement the Strategic Plan, particular concern will be paid to helping students establish clear academic and career pathways. The development of ICAPS (Individual Career Academic Plans) will play a key role in ensuring that students transition seamlessly to post-secondary, training, and career opportunities.
As always, parents are encouraged to provide input in school programming, and are invited to participate and volunteer at schools sites and in classrooms. Together, we can ensure that students have the skills necessary to achieve academic success. Should you have questions or concerns, please contact the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at 580-310-7354.
