Ada City Schools - AVID

In February, 2013, the Ada City School District was awarded its first AVID Grant by the Oklahoma  State Department of Education.  Since that time, the District has been awarded continuation grants to both Ada Junior High School and Ada High School to help ensure strong school wide implementation at both school sites.

AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness.  AVID students are invited to participate in the District's AVID Summer Academy and during the school year, each student is enrolled in an AVID elective class as well as in at least one advanced course.   Currently, AVID is offered in Grades 8-12.

As part of the AVID system, students are given the intensive support that is needed to be successful in secondary course work as well as the skills that are necessary for college success.  College visits, community mentors, and school and community service are also important components of the AVID System.

The AVID College Readiness System has become an integral part of the District's mission to ensure that all students have the skills necessary to achieve academic success as well as to become productive, engaged citizens.
